20"“ x 20,” encaustic on panel
Every year, millions of monarchs migrate south in early September, sometimes traveling up to 3,000 miles to reach the forests of central Mexico. They stop in pollinator gardens along the way, including those in our coastal Maine community. This painting celebrates their arrival, with the monarch taking wing symbolizing how much of their flight remains. (Kaleidoscope is one term for a group of butterflies.)
