Commissions
I enjoy working with homeowners (or their art consultants or interior designers) to create custom paintings that celebrate special places, speak to their hearts, and fit perfectly in their homes. I can create a joyful, personalized painting in virtually any custom size, as shown in the installation photo below.
Maine landscape painter
The homeowners wanted to create a cheerful, welcoming first impression to guests coming in the front door. They had seen one of my yellow sky paintings, and thought the use of a similar, warm yellow would be a perfect color complement to their gray walls.
This commissioned triptych incorporated three custom 44” x 22” canvases that brought a burst of color to this dining room.
Featured Commissions
Five Islands Light, 36 x 36”
This young family already owned one of my Maine coast paintings, but commissioned another one of their favorite spot in Maine–the Five Islands fishing village, near Georgetown, ME. I was very familiar with the area, and focused on capturing the dancing light that makes Maine so special. They love having a daily reminder of their happy place in their Boston-area home.
Long Champlain, 36 x 48”
This was a fun surprise commission! Some super fans of musician Todd Thibaud wanted to surprise him with a painting to thank him for keeping their spirits up during the pandemic with his bi-weekly Zoom concerts. I had created a painting for Todd before, as cover art for a CD, and they asked me to paint the Lake Champlain area where he grew up. This was an easy ask since I know and love this part of Vermont, having frequently skied at Stowe (Mt Mansfield) when I lived in Boston.
Autumn Joy, 36 x 48”
I love the expressive personality of birch trees, and they are a frequent subject matter for me. This client had seen several of my birch tree paintings on different studio visits, and commissioned a painting for over the fire place in their new Silicon Valley home. They gave me free rein on the design, only requesting that I included a fair amount of red to go with the overall color scheme of their living room.
I can’t reproduce an earlier painting, but my clients often pick and choose elements of different paintings that they like and ask me to incorporate them into a new, unique painting.
If you are interested in exploring the idea of a commission and discussing the process, please submit the form below. You’re also welcome to visit either my Boston, MA or Cape Elizabeth, ME studios to see my art in person and discuss what you are looking for in more detail – just note that on the form.
