I’m a beach girl through and through - I love nothing more than barefoot walks on the beach and swimming in the salt water. I grew up near Horseneck Beach in Westport, Massachusetts, one of the most beautiful beaches in New England. I now live within walking distance of several beaches in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. I painted this after a picture-perfect day at Scarborough Beach in Maine. I wanted to capture that feeling of warm sand between your toes and the ocean just calling for you for a swim. I added some clouds, designed to echo the curvy line of the surf, for visual interest. I like to think of them as happy clouds, dancing along the coast, and adding to the fun.
