Lily pond painting, with water lilies floating on a brilliant blue pond, and colorful reeds in the foreground. Ever since Claude Monet created his ongoing series of water lily paintings in his Japanese inspired water gardens at Giverny, artists have been inspired to offer their own interpretation of these floating, flowering plants. My water lily painting, inspired by a lily pond on the grounds of the Clark Art Institute, is created with layer upon layer of beeswax paint, and is rich in color and texture.
These two 24” x 24” encaustic on panel paintings are designed to be hung as a pair (diptych). The diptych arrangement can be more interesting visually than a single panel, and allows for the painting to cover a slightly greater are of wall space.
