30” x 40” encaustic on panel
Over the years, I’ve gotten many comments from studio visitors about my paintings reminding them of tapestries. In this piece I played up the repetitive patterns, depth, and dimensionality of textiles, particularly in the tree canopies. In this piece, I left the lake water a unified, saturated blue so that these rhythmic motifs would pop even more. The alternating arrangement of oranges, golds, and greens in the foreground, as well as their varying depth and weave, also plays up the tapestry feel, with the radiant yellow sun tying it all together
My encaustic paintings feature rich colors and textures, while the multiple layers and mark-making invite close looking. The luminous surface also makes you want to reach out and touch the painting, which you can! Unlike oil or acrylic paintings, encaustic paintings are hardened with natural resin, and the tough surface which won’t be damaged by your touching it.
This painting is on a 1 1/2” deep museum birch panel, providing a polished, contemporary look that does not require framing.
Each original painting is signed on the reverse, preserving the integrity of the composition while providing collectors with a lasting mark of authenticity.
Pricing includes free shipping within the continental US.
For all large paintings, I offer free delivery in the Boston and Portland/southern Maine area. You can see how the painting would look in your home, and I’ll help you hang the painting (if you’d like me to). If you aren’t happy with the painting for any reason, after seeing it in person, I will offer a full refund.
