Radiant, abstract with 23K gold leaf

$1,900.00

24” x 24” encaustic and 23K gold leaf on panel

My typical palette for my metallic abstracts (or any painting, really!) is saturated color. But I began this painting during a snowstorm, when the woods outside my studio were blanketed in a soothing white, and I was inspired to try something a little different. I wanted to make a painting that was soothing, while radiating a quiet energy. I first built an inner ring with gold wax, then applied sheets of 23K gold leaf in a pattern fanning out from the center. The larger flecks of gold on the outer sections of the painting create a sense of gentle motion, while breaking up the white space and adding more overall shimmer.
