Lyrical, abstract with copper leaf
16” x 16” acrylic and copper leaf on panel
This is one of several paintings exploring new combinations of blue hues. This piece has embedded copper leaf, and I just love how the warm copper complements the blues. I used a glossy, UV-protective varnish on this painting to seal the copper and ensure it is protected. I named this Lyrical, as the watery blues and swirling copper have an expressive quality that remind me of a soothing song.
This piece is a companion piece to Eddy, which was painted with the same palette, but with the opposite color in the center. The final photo shows how wonderful these two metallic abstracts look together. (Apologies for the feet in the photo, but the best way to capture the true colors of these paintings and also the metallic highlights are to take outdoor photos!)
