The Hills are Alive

24” x 48, ” acrylic on Canvas

I love painting yellow skies because they signify hope and optimism. It’s not how the world looks, obviously, but it’s how I want it to look. The yellow pigment used is Naples yellow, a soft, buttery yellow that was a favorite of Georgia O’Keeffe. The purple path leads us forward into an optimistic future. I used a red violet underpainting that I left visible around the trees and major landscape forms - this technique creates intensified color vibrations and unifies the painting.

This piece is one of several larger landscape paintings that are available through the Candita Clayton Gallery in New London, New Hampshire. Feel free to either contact the gallery directly or message me for more info on pricing and gallery contact info.
